About my work
Hi. My name is Fred Schmid, and I create one-of-a-kind tables and desks from beautiful cuts of locally grown and milled hardwoods, as well as salvaged old-growth wood from many after-market sources. My goal is to create a functional piece of art that highlights the hand of Nature and delights my patrons. I am keenly aware that our world is moving from "simplicity and authenticity", towards "digitized and virtual". My work is meant to stand as a tribute to the beauty of real wood.
